Silly Sentences

We made 4 dice and coloured each of them a different colour. There were words written on all sides. The students had to roll the dice to find out which word they had to write, and under which column (depending on the colour of the die). They came up with some very silly sentences.

Writing the word on the red die under the red column to complete her sentences.

Sounding out the letters to figure out the word.

The Outdoor Classroom

We took our learning outside today and created an outdoor classroom. The students were given an opportunity to show their creativity by painting with sidewalk chalk. We simply crushed up some chalk and added water to create 'paint'. The students also enjoyed blowing some homemade bubbles that we made using water, dish soap and corn syrup.

Reaching up high to try and catch the bubbles.

"These bubbles look like tadpole eggs." -Ryan

Smile!! The girls used all of the 'paint' colours to create a beautiful picture.

Scrabble Math

We combined literacy and math to make this fun game for the students. Their first job was to match the uppercase and lowercase letters to spell a 2 letter word. Then they had to look at the number on each letter and add up how many points that word equaled.

Using our fingers to add up the numbers.

Trying to match uppercase and lowercase letters.
